lady with an ermine
A 1489-1491 oil painting by Leonardo Da Vinci. Its subject is Cecilia Gallerani, a mistress of Ludovico Sforza ("Il Moro"), Duke of Milan.
Although the animal she is holding is said to be an ermine, it more closely resembles an albino ferret or a composite of several animals. The ermine represents purity and moderation.
