The Offspring is an American rock band formed in Garden Grove, California, in 1984. Following the commercial success of their third studio album, Smash, in 1994 and later success with their fifth studio album, Americana_(The Offspring), in 1998, the band, alongside contemporary acts like Green Day and Rancid (Band) became credited for reviving mainstream interest in punk rock music during the mid-1990s, as well as influencing the future success of the pop-punk subgenre.
Notable in gaming for providing the soundtrack to Sega's Crazy Taxi series of games alongside Bad Religion.
