Cuts like that are usually for neither of those options but rather a way to process or replace mental pain with physical one. She has been hiding those cuts, so they definitely aren't for attention - even if it's what she craves.

Remember that dogs' sense of smell is about 10,000X stronger than a human's. If you think your feet stink, imagine how bad they must be for a dog. This is why it's generally considered animal abuse to shove your feet in a dog's face.
Of course, if your dogs are actively trying to smell your feet, chances are it's similar to how some humans have a thing for sniffing farts.
