After Estel disappeared with the retainers of Fenris, the two survivors of that confrontation decide to go search for Estel in an attempt to save her from Fenris's pact, however they were unable to find her after months of fruitless searching.

Heartbroken, the two go to a faraway village to escape the ongoing war and to start a new life together.
Having only each other now, Joachim and Micaela form a bond of love and become inseparable. After Joachim tells Micaela his dream of having "a big family to go home to" Micaela decides to "teach" Joachim on how to make his dream come true.

It's said that the pair had so many children that every current day wolf that walks the continent is thought to be descendants of Joachim and Micaela.
