Manually deleting flagged posts

Posted under General

I noticed recently that some images I flagged were taken down manually by janitors instead of letting them die after 3 days. I imagine some other janitors/mods didn't have the chance to look at them and make their own judgement on whether to reapprove or to hide them.

I've only seen manual deletions for either pixiv samples (flagged by RaisingK) or some very extreme ToS violations in the past. In which cases can (or should) an image be manually deleted?

I agree with you, that wherever possible deletions should be passive, indicating that everyone that saw it deferred on approving it, and any one moderator can vouch for its quality. The one exception (beyond the obvious examples you already listed) would be for cases where a pending post is flagged.

If I remember correctly, the script doesn't take care of automatic deletions anymore in that case, so they have to be manually deleted. That's (one) reason people should wait until a post has been approved otherwise bypass the queue before considering flagging it.

banned artists are fine for manual deletion as well. Anything else should be dying the queue.

This was fixed.
