Help: Account Levels and Features Revisited

Alright I just figured out the use of the tag script thingy.
This really needs to be explained somewhere.

The basics are explained here. It looks complicated, but it really isn't.

You use it by selecting "Edit Tag Script" or "Apply Tag Script" from the drop down box under Mode on the left hand side.

I think moderators can promote people as long as they don't have a net negative record rating. Did this change?

Each rank can do everything the rank listed above it can do so no it didn't change.

I really have to disagree with this ban change as far as I can tell in the past 3 months only 6 of the current mods have been active, cheese hasn't done anything in 6 months, mug-g in 8 months, lac in a year.

Everyone but haduki, スラッシュ, and seem only appears to come in, do something minor (edit tags on a couple images, upload 3 images, etc) and leave for weeks if not months. We either need moremods or the power to ban users given back to janitors. It's kind of insane to only have 9 active users who can ban spammers and vandals.

For instance in the time it took me to make this post zhxia posted two spam forum posts and it can only go up until one of these 9 just happens to catch them in action and ban. Out of those 9 only 4 actively post on the forums and I have no idea how many out of the 9 keep an eye on user records. Sure, in this one instance it was a quick ban but that was only because I directly contacted albert about it, we can't expect him to be around 24/7.

The obvious solution to that is to promote a few of the more active Janitors to Moderator.

I can think of three perfectly good candidates right off the top of my head

I think evazion is the ideal candidate. Is he one of them?

Oops I swore I put down "we need more mods or the ability of janitors to ban restored" but that's what I get for posting immediately before going to bed.

Definitely. It's actually surprising he hasn't been promoted to mod yet.

I haven't tried in months (I don't know of anywhere your number of invites is actually listed), but at least as far as the interface goes, the ability to invite has never changed for Janitors.

Jesus I had completely forgotten about the help/list page for months. Thank you.

It's not that it looks complicated or what, just that I never knew how it was supposed to work, because I've always missed the tag script help page and thought there was none. This would probably deserve an extra link from the wiki.

Nice. I'm not familiar with the new wiki yet but I suppose it's a fine place.

Regarding mods, I'm pretty sure that's always been up to albert's discretion since janitors are, and those are lower level.

I don't have a problem with adding some and can think of a few I'd add, but any in-depth discussion about whether we need more mods should go in a separate thread.

I just noticed that janitors - beside mod and admin of course - can delete comments. Is there any special rules to it?

EDIT: umm no, just try and it appear to be like voting down.

No they cannot you get an access denied error.

I just had a little discussion with 葉月 and he told me he couldn't do that. Now he mentioned that this didn't bother him too much but I would like to know if other Mod has this problem as well and if this ability was taken away after that post was made.

Looking at the code again* it seems that actually only admins can invite users with negative records given by mods, but the error message in this case incorrectly says that only mods can invite users with negative records. So it hasn't changed, I was just going by the incorrect error message.

Yes, admins only. It could be dropped down to mod as well but that wouldn't change anything in this particular case.

Sorry for bumping the old forum, but there are some points which need to be tweaked a bit, like changes in forum #75113.
