Tag discussion: personification

Is it ok to tag images with item_being_personified_(personification)?

For example, bird_(personification), pasta_(personification) or flower_(personification)?

Except for a few categories, like os or personification of animal characters it's often unclear what an image is a personification of unless you go to the source page.

It would also be helpful if the personfication wiki linked to the personification tags that already exist, like os. I would do it myself but I don't know what they are.

The way I've been doing is to tag personification and the items that are personified (bird, cake, sweets,...) separately. I'm afraid using item_(personification) will generate lots of small tags that not many people would search for.

On the other hand, it may help by not polluting the actual item tags - because the image may not contain that item in them, the tag only serves as extra information.

It will not help with pollution at all because they must be tagged with the base tags regardless of which way this goes.

Is it possible if we skip the base tag, providing the item doesn't visually exist in the image?

For personifications of animals like this, I'd suggest tagging it as distinctly as possible if that information is available (in this case: bluebird).

I would honestly say that making a million item_personification tags defeats one of the purposes of the system Danbooru uses.You should be able to use <item> personification and just mix two tags together.

I think it'd be better to have many small tags that actually have a real life meaning,then several tags that are just subs of another tag (personification)

I would say though it'd be nice if people didn't even bother putting personification in the tag if they aren't going to list any identifying tags to relate to it. I've seen dozens of personification tags that have no nouns tagged.

Perhaps at the very least add a character_request tag or something to let people at least that you tried and couldn't find it.

The problem is that, for example, you could try searching for a personification of an apple with the search string apple personification, and end up with a personification of an M1 Abrams tank with an actual apple somewhere in the background.

Maybe once Danbooru2 launches and we get the proposed nested tagging feature, this will be a non-issue, but for now, discussion such as this is necessary.

I think we should have item_(personification) tags, as long as each post with such things also contains the personification tag, and tags for the item the personification is based upon. We generally go for X_character + X_character_(cosplay) tag combos where character cosplay is seen, so I think it would be nicely in line with precedent to work it out this way.
