A Deidication for the hard working people of Danbooru

Posted under General

Before anything else I want to great everyone a happy new year.

Now for this forum, many people usually working hard to maintain this site, especially the modulators and the janitors, so I want to suggest something that would pay all their hard works.

I was thinking making a User of the Year award to give a thanks to the person who mostly contributed in Danbooru in this year, Modulators and Janitors will the one who can nominate someone and the Admin among the nominees who is the right to be call user of the year.

Advantages
  • This might an opportunity to make the lazy people get up and running.
  • It could lessen people causing much troubles.
  • A good motivation for people in this site.
  • Also a way to give thanks for the people who are working very hard for this site (Translating, Uploading, Tagging, etc).
Disadvantages
  • Well, expect a lot of complains about it.
  • Another work for the admin, modulators and janitors, sorry guys.
  • It might ruin the site's reputation if not use properly.

So what do you think, If you will not agree with me then fine, I just want to give thanks to those who really have done a lot of this things this year, you really are the best...

Why not?

Because the potential for butthurt is too staggering for our limited human minds to fully comprehend. Also, the idea that this would impact the "lazy people" who are "causing much troubles" (or, really, that it would impact anyone other than forum users, who already know who they like and who they don't on Danbooru without an awards show to tell them) is silly.

Besides, records are more than sufficient for this sort of thing.

Like glasnost said, records are already being used for both rewarding users for good deeds and punishing users that break the rules. These "Awards" aren't necessary.

Also, there's been enough competition between frequent uploaders over the past year. They don't really need any more motivation that they don't already have.

Let's not lynch the guy, he was at least well-meaning.

But I agree with the sentiment that it's not needed, or practical. I only want people to contribute if they're wiling to do it without explicit recognition. That is, people that value the creation of a quality site, and don't care so much about creating a personal reputation.

That and it's just be hard as hell to make this sort of decision.
