Splitting DMC Dante's character tag?

Since the new Devil May Cry is the series' reboot and it's being handled by a different company, should there be two separate tags for Dante now? For example, dante_(capcom) for the old series, and dante_(ninja_theory) for the new meth-addict, director-self-insert Dante. Or should we wait until more information is released about the new Dante?

Really not needed right now with the DMC: Devil May Cry tag there to help designate the two.

Hah. Actually, don't name it. Since it wasn't made by Capcom, just pretend it doesn't exist. That moldy pile of ass hair trimmings doesn't need to be recognized with it's own tag.

Letting the copy tag distinguish is probably okay for now, as others have said. He does look pretty different, but then so do 1st/A's and Strikers Nanoha.

I don't know much about Nanoha, but isn't the titular character the same person in all those incarnations? Zelda's Link would be a better comparison in my opinion.

Movie Nanoha is pretty different in personality (and has some small, but notable, design distinctions) compared to 1st/A's Nanoha.

Same person, yes. From reading a few comment threads on the DMC posts I got the impression this was simply a younger Dante, as much as everyone was loathe to admit it. Are the various DMC games all supposed to be featuring completely different people?

I think the case here is that Zelda is part of the same series, but here Capcom said that Devil May Cry is being rebooted. So I think the idea is that they are completely changing the character/setting. Similar to a Final Fantasy game, except here the names are the same, but everything else appears to have been changed. Up until now, the DMC games have been related to each other.

I'm not sure how much information there actually is though on the reboot only that its unpopular.

That's right. DmC is being planned as a reboot of Devil May Cry. Why a series less than decade old is being rebooted in the first place, that's a discussion I'll save for another time on another board.

Well, Dante remains a constant in every game, but that fucking, thing, that they replaced him with is very angering. Instead of spinning straw into gold, they spun platinum into shit.

Movie Nanoha is an in-universe fictionalization of the real Nanoha.

Well, hate for the "new Dante", justified or not, isn't anything we can use as a basis for tagging policy.

Let's stick with the copy tag as the distinguishing element for now, we can revisit the character if needed down the line.
