Pool: Grace and Elegance

There's already a Classy pool which seems more or less the same thing as what you suggest. You could just expand upon that.

And if you want to discuss this further please either take it back to the pointless pools thread or start a new thread and stop derailing this one.

This sounds pretty close, indeed. Very well, I guess this will work.

but something seems off though...

Found the problem. "Classy" makes great for looks. Top hat, monocle, or a Victorian dress, sure. But as I looked at what used to be in the Graceful pool, Gardevoir, Violin users, and so on...

Well though similar, it's like comparing the 'You shouldnt have done that' pool with the 'Nice knowing you' pool. They have similar feels, and one who likes one pool will likely enjoy the other.

But looking at the Classy Pool, I wouldnt call Dudley graceful or elegant. Likewise, I wouldnt call Gardievor classy.

The Grace and Elegance pool focuses not on what the picture's character is wearing, but about how they present themselves, their posture and poise. A curtsy or a gentle note of the violin, even a wink could be gracefully executed.

So, since it was kindly requested that this issue me directed away from those pool, I have. And now I request again,

May I make this "Grace and Elegance" pool? if it makes you fear that it will be a touhou favorites pool, I can put a note in the description to ask those who wish to contribute, to resist adding touhou for a couple pages.

Though I understand that you feel that the current content of the 'Classy' pool doesn't quite match the feel that you wanted to capture with this other pool, the general consensus (including that of the mods) seems to be that the concepts are close enough that there isn't a need for two separate pools.

It sounds like the problem is that you don't think the current definition for the Classy pool quite meshes up with that of the old pool. Perhaps then it should be expanded a bit so that it does encompass the concepts of the old pool as well. Also, if I may go out on a limb a bit here, perhaps changing the very of name of the pool might be considered as well? Something like "Class, Grace, and Elegance" perhaps? This would need public discussion first, naturally, but it's worth considering.

Just a minor opinion on the situation but if the pool were to be renamed, perhaps you should go with just "Class and Elegance", since it seems like "Class, Grace, and Elegance" is kind of wordy and those two words could cover "grace" by themselves.

Touhou isn't by itself the problem; if you take a "Touhou favourites pool" and add non-Touhou images, you end up with just a "favourites pool".

pool #2020 does indeed seem narrower in scope than what you're proposing - which is a good thing.
Your pool seemed to lack a well-defined topic. I suspect there were concerns that it would just end up as "pictures I think look cool", which isn't really of general interest. If you have a more stringent definition, please tell.

I'm aware that some similarly vague and inclusive pools currently seem to be tolerated, but it's not really a sustainable model, and I don't think anyone in charge are in a hurry to add more.

This. Agree with this assessment of the situation. While to some extent inertia has prevented the deletion of some existing pools like that, there certainly is tangible opposition to the creation of any further new ones.

It also appears that already having similar pools in existence is not sufficient justification for a new one. This is analogous to the argument for post quality -- "existing bad content is never an excuse for additional bad content".

I just found out 'InsertNameHere' made the classy pool, but I dont much like editing other's pools without their say-so. But, if he does say so (or if it doesnt really matter), and doesnt mind the extension, and most people already believe Gracefulness and Elegance can be included in a Classy pool, then I guess I can.

It is true, when I made the pool, I myself couldnt describe what it was about the pool that I liked, but after seeing the Classy pool, I could tell what it was, and it was the posture/poise of the characters giving an elegant and graceful charm.

But if there arent any objections to me renameing/extending the 'Classy' pool to the "Classy and Elegant" pool, and adding What I just said that paragraph above here to it (more or less), then I think we may be good.

Unrelated, but why are mods so eager to be wiping pools? Arent pools akin to a folder holding images? It itself wasting little space, just giving a means to farther organize a pack of images, right?

Many pools are completely pointless, either existing pools serve the same purpose or can be completely recreated with simple tag searches. Multi-tag combination pools are frowned on since albert has already indicated he has no desire to make it easier for members to search. Favorite, ill-defined, and overuseable pools cause clutter and serve no good purpose.

Very well.

if I seem hesitant, then it's because all this bullshit has got me, simply put, not wanting to deal with this place, even if it's just a massive image gallery, visiting here got me raging. But I guess I was able to kill entire evenings here before, I should forget this incident soon.

Can't say I agree with this.

The Classy pool was well-defined, but Lord Enki's new pool description is too long and too inclusive to be meaningful (from the usual monocles and Victorian dresses to piano and violin playing "or even a wink"). It's too general and subjective.

My apologies then, but I wouldn't say being consistent and trying to keep the place free from clutter by pointless and ill-defined pools as "bullshit". Many of the posts in that pool don't even seem to have anything in common.

If you like these posts so much, why don't you just favorite them?
