Why were pictures that had the filter "nude filter" rather than simply removing the filter itself?

Good question. Why delete those images when you could simply take all 1000 of them, remove the nude filter in photoshop with the helpful nude-filter removal tool (link pending), and then have albert go through and replace every single image with the non-filtered original? Seems simple enough to me.
Ah, so you meant "tag" and not "filter". That's a relief. Simply removing the tag does not change the fact that these images are "nude filters" or images where a person's clothes are removed with photoshop. These images are, in general, of poor quality and it was decided that deleting the images and disallowing their upload in the future was the best course of action in the effort to improve the overall quality of this site.
While there are, albeit rarely, good quality nude filters uploaded, not having them on the site was judged a necessary sacrifice...or wasn't even considered because it pretty much never happens.
