Tag Implication: ngirls -> 2girls, 3girls, 4girls, 5girls, girls

Posted under General

ngirls -> 2girls, 3girls, 4girls, 5girls, girls

and

#girls -> 2girls, 3girls, 4girls, 5girls, girls

same for boys

it's unconvenient when looking for pictures with a group of girls and you have to ~2girls ~3girls ~4girls ~5girls ~girls leaving you with only one more tag specify your search

you could also do ngirls -nboys to search for pictures that only include females.

it goes the other way around too, for boys

or do we already have something like this?

Updated

Oh I didn't know you couldn't

but implication would work too

ngirls would search for 2, 3, 4, 5girls, and girls, it would be better than having to ~ all five kinds of tags, and it'd allow for more tags to specify your search.

For example let's say you want to search for groups of girls. You don't want any k-on! or lucky_star to show up, ngirls would allow you to exclude both k-on! and lucky_star and you'd still have 3 more tags to further specify your search. As opposed to ~ all 2, 3, 4, 5girls, girls and only having one tag to either exclude k-on! or lucky_star. Either way, you're stuck with one series getting in the way of your search while not being able specify more what you wanted to search for (i.e. school_uniform, ponytail, -rating:e, etc)

What I mean is, "Alias ngirls -> 2girls, 3girls, 4girls, 5girls, girls" would add "2girls, 3girls, 4girls, 5girls, girls" to every post where someone used the ngirls tag. Remember, alias replaces the [from] tag with the [to] tag, so ngirls wouldn't exist. So yes, what you'd want is for those tags to implicate ngirls, i.e. any time 2girls, 3girls etc is used, ngirls is automatically applied.

oh whoops, yeah you're absolutely right

but what do you think about an implication though?

How about implicating to multiple_girls (seems more consistent with other tags)? I would leave out 2girls in the implication, though.

I think ngirls and #girls is more consistent since if follows the same format as 2girls, 3girls, etc. But it'd make sense to alias multiple girls to ngirls

I suggested this because when we want to look for images with a group of girls we might not specifically want to only look for groups of 2 or 5. If only looking for 3+ number of girls we could ngirls -2girls. It might be confusing if we had n to represent 3, 4, 5 and not 2 so I think 2girls should be included

I like n because it's commonly used to represent integers, but i'm just giving my opinion

There is a girls tag, though that was only created because we didn't get an agreement on the name for the tag to cover large groups of girls. The currently existing girls tag is pretty much what you're proposing, so I don't see why you want to have that tag implicate ngirls.

Anyways, I would support a multiple_girls tag, which is what I supported in the past. Some people complained it would be annoying to type so perhaps alias many_girls -> multiple_girls, as many_girls was another proposed tag. Could mass edit the images under the girls tag to multiple_girls.

Updated

There have been many complaints about the naming for the girls tag. To work this this out I think this is how it should be ordered, multiple_girls should be the master tag to refer to multiple numbers of girls (at minimum 3+, though perhaps even as low as 2+). We replace the girls tag (if it's to mean only 6+ or more girls) with many_girls, and make it and the appropriate #girls tags implicate multiple_girls. We could then probably use that ngirls as either a shortcut/alias for multiple_girls.

so,

multiple = 2+/+3 or more
many = 6+
ngirls -> multiple

it's intuitive and organized, it's perfect IMO

I've gone ahead and migrated the images under the girls tag to multiple_girls, and additionally added many_girls to the images with 6 or more girls in them. We can go ahead and do the following implications and alias:

alias:

implications:

We could go with 6+girls, I just went ahead because no further input was provided on the matter, and nothing would have changed.

I think ngirls sounds like it'd cover any number, so it'd be better as an alias for multiple_girls than used for images of a large number of girls. Could use many_girls as another alias for multiple_girls then. I think multiple would be the better name as more than one is multiple, but I don't think many would say 2 is many.

Could you then delete the wiki for many_girls that I made then, if we alias it to multiple_girls.
