Tag Discussion: antenna

Posted under General

The antenna tag is currently defined to cover both the electrical and biological antenna, so it seems like it should be split to separate the biological antennae and the mechanical antenna. Both types have a different appearance in the image, so they really shouldn't be clumped together.

The biological kind are currently the dominate type of image under the tag. If the biological type is given the antenna tag, then the alias of antennae -> antenna should be reversed, as biological antenna normally come in pairs. Even if we don't give antenna to the biological kind, antennae should be the label for the them.

why not just separate the tags?

That's what we were going to do. We just need a name for the non-biological kind.

And using antenna for one and antennae for the other, if that's what you meant, can be a bit confusing. If we can think of a less ambiguous alternate tag we should go with that.

Did something go wrong during the alias run? Searching antennae shows 79 pages, only the first 3 of which have posts. Yet there are no changes on the tag history pages (the tag lists on the posts themselves reads "? + - antenna 2"). Antenna still shows a page of results, but nothing past that.

Maybe there was a temporary glitch? I seem to be able to access all pages at the moment.

I suppose so; I can access the full tag search now. I only noted this after I edited a post and the system added an antenna (singular) edit I hadn't inputted. It's still there. It was after you'd run the alias, so how it got changed back is beyond me.

No idea, this seems to happen sometimes. I guess all I can do is run it again.
