Danbooru

Are you an original?

Posted under General

It was a very sad day for many of us when the original site went down. Lots of us loved it and was a resource for anything and everything. Lucky enough we have a new and improved site. So my curious to know how many of those here have been here since the beginning?

My first image was uploaded on June 18, 2006 and I think I only joined shortly before that. So I haven't been here an extremely long time but I was here before the site went down, if that's what you mean.

I actually have no idea how long I've been here, and I contributed anonymously for a long time. I can't even remember how I found the place for that matter.
Could find out by checking the date of the oldest image in my danbooru folder, but I've archived the oldest files a couple of times since (in particular all the very oldest ones with different filename schemes are on disc.. somewhere)

IIRC I joined the old site around the time when the image file names went from "danbooru-Number String" to the random number/letter one in use now.

It was named after its tags before that even.

I first stumbled on this place when a somone linked a pic on IRC, and was immidiately drawn to the ease of looking up pictures through tags instead of browsing an endless stream of *chan-style posts hoping you'd stumble across something possibly of interest (on top of everything always expiring).

I have no idea when that exactly was, but I do know it was in the site's comparative infancy stage, since I recall actually browsing the entire post/list -listing one day from front-to-back at that time - There wasn't yet the oodles of gigabittle content of today, so the task was actually humanely possible :p

My oldest note edit is from 02 May, 2006. I've been browsing and translating anonymously before that, unsure how long, I signed up because I wanted to keep favs. FWIW, I remember both danbooru-NUMBER and tags naming schemes (and was around when albert came to our channel, which resulted, amongst other things, in him dropping the names in favour of hashes).

Meh, now it sounds totally like old war stories.

I posted my first pictures the day I found the site, which was apparently in 09/05, four months after it was opened.
I was somehow made a moderator a few months later, I guess because I had posted so prolifically.

I don't remember if I ever signed up... I came here when I wanted to add to my specific series collection. I left a lot of Anonymous comments... I can't find any under the name I went by back then. My earliest image with a danbooru tag is October 13th, 2005. (img20020705221156.jpg)

I can remember when the Rozen Maiden tag had a little over 100 images.

Unfortunately, I added join date to accounts only recently. Here are the first ten members that are still around however:

1 | albert
9 | c0rtana
10 | Franz Einfalsch
11 | Chikusaho
12 | SoSD
13 | ^^remilia^^
16 | Aevrus
19 | OGT
20 | Roobar
22 | MrVacBob

I was refered to the old Danbooru Site by Hentaigeeks.com (Was it?). You know, the forum.

Anyway, I didn't get to see much of it since Danbooru closed down a few days later. So, I've been hanging around Gelbooru and Sagubooru for a while until now. Until now that is.

My first post was on May 10, 2006, though I had lurked here for a good while before that. I think I was first introduced to Danbooru by noticing a number of good posts with 'danbooru' in the original filename popping up on *chan at the time. A little googling got me onto the site. I think one of the reasons 'danbooru' was dropped from the filenames was the influx of new users it caused.

I lurked anonymously before it closed down. Then totally forgot about it until moe.imouto got posted in 4chan, and which made me remember Danbooru, and googled it and found it.

Unfortunately membership was closed for awhile, but I lurked for the safe-for-work images. And then eventually membership opened and here I am.

I don't believe I posted back before the closure.

I first heard of memo (which was called something else before, I think), then followed the links.... After lurking for a long time, I made an account (crunchtime) and provided a few translations.

Come to think of it, I found miezaru the same way.

I came here for the first via a link in #insertcredit somewhere during the end of 2005, I think. I've never been a big fan of imageboards, but danbooru's database-like approach, clean UI and general lack of nonsense made me a frequent visitor.

I signed up a little later to favorite this monstrosity: post #19966, and to have my name attached to the few uploads that I made (no more than 30, I think).

I also found out about miezaru via memo.

i visited everyday for 8 months befor the site went down i left a few comments but i never had anything to upload i always wished i could but everything i found was already here its such an amazing site
