About tagging the resolution

Posted under General

I wanted to hear some opinions about this. I seen the increase of this tag or at least me noticing it more lately. Often aplied the resolution without tagging it as wallpaper.

Shimmie (danbooru php clone) stores the resolution of the file (and allows a search of size=1280x1024 instead of using tags), not sure if danbooru does the same...

I particularly find it bad because even if they are only wallpaper resolutions to be tagged they are already a bunch. 640x480 (very very old) 800x600 1024x768 1280x800 1280x960 1280x1024 1440x900 1600x900 1600x1200 1920x1200 and I'm sure I'm leaving some forgotten... Also they are in some way corrupting the related tags

Surasshu: remember you can link directly to wiki entries by putting double square brackets around then, e.g. wallpaper and can link to forum threads or posts using forum #2849 or forum #2868

Ah I was not aware of that at all, although I did vaguely remember people directlinking to wiki entries and forumposts. Thanks!

I might even expand on that and have a wallpaper tag for standard 4x3 images, and a widescreen tag for wallpapers in the widescreen format.

I don't particularly care for the wallpaper tag since people can just go to the wiki entry and find the specific resolution they need (or search for it themselves), so I don't really see the need to make _another_ wallpaper-ish tag.

However, if folks want it, go ahead! It's not gonna hurt me if you add it, after all. ;D
