These are character tags. Could they be general tags and these characters get parenthesized?

jewel: post #627177 (eyes are pretty jewel; back could be gem)
aura: post #605992 (not very ki)
post #605992 isn't all that different from post #480280 which is tagged ki. I think post #605992 could be seen as maybe boarder line, but I think it could still be tagged ki without any real issues.
The only non-.hack Aura images currently tagged aura could also all fall under the ki tag.
Actually the ki tag is even defined as: "Ki is energy, generally speaking. This tag usually refers to energy beams, auras, or Dragon Ball-style power-up scenes."
Hmm, this may be thread hijacking but it's a similar issue, and probably the third time I brought it up over the last year or two, but can we finally uncharacter shamisen and move him to shamisen_(haruhi) or something similar and move the general shamisen_(instrument) to plain shamisen.
I'm also +1 to parenthesizing jewel and aura even if we don't need to use them as general tags. The simple fact that they are common words will make it likely for them to be misused later by people who don't know which precise tag we use for whichever term.
There's also a few posts under gems, gem and precious_stone.
I think aura would be a more intuitive tag than ki for many of the images, and not all posts under ki are auras. There's a couple of posts under aura_(glow).
I moved the jewel character to jewel_(mamonomusume).
I moved the aura character to aura_(.hack//).
I think gem is the best word for the stones. I'd rather alias all the variants to that.
And I prefer aura over ki. It just seems more appropriately general. In posts where ki is specifically appropriate (whatever ones those are, DBZ powerups I guess) it can be used.
So how's that sound?
There's energy_beam, but it seems to be mostly for beam attacks from mechs and stuff.
It should probably have no bearing on the tags, since it's technically all the same in the end, but I tend to think of aura and ki as two different things.
Aura is a smoky, slight, and soft type of glow, while ki is harder and more erratic, tending more toward the DBZ or Bleach "reiatsu" definition and look.
On that note, energy is very underused and fits in with all those other energy tags.

I don't really see there being any truly significant distinction between that definition of a ki tag and how the aura tag ought to be used. Even in the likes of Bleach and DBZ, there's plenty of the "smoky" variant you mention.
I move for phasing out the ki tag entirely, to be replaced by aura and energy beam, since those are the only visually significant aspects of ki.
Save any use of a ki tag until such time as a visual representation, uniformly distinct from auras and energy beams, can be found.
While I normally stay out of forum matters, I'd like to make a comment in regards to the aura bit. While I can't think of any images with this specifically tagged aura, couldn't things like the purple/black glow that characters tend to get when they're especially ticked off at something count as an aura of sorts? Its technically not an energy, unless you want to get all philosophical and call it negative energy I guess, but more bad vibes being given off in a visual manner, but still occasionally described as a menacing aura.

It could indeed, and I would add the tag for cases like this.
