Editing of Previous/Next fields in relation to Pools

Posted under General

Yes, it's time for another stupid newbie question.

I'm interested in uploading more mangas to Danbooru, but I'm not sure what the point of editing the Previous/Next fields is. With pools, you can already define a sequence for related posts to appear in. Why would you want to edit the sequence of the site-wide post listing? And what happens to other posts that get skipped as a result of these edits?

Just because not everything is large enough for a pool to be worth it, but it's still nice to set next/previous. If you're pooling something, I don't think you need to do next/previous unless you want to.

See post #126043 and its next 2 images for an example. Only 3 parts, no real use in pooling.

Yes, he used comments instead of changing next/previous, but it's just an example of the kind of thing where you could do it if you wanted.

Nothing really "happens", their post IDs don't change or anything. The only mode of access this eliminates is moving chronologically through the posts from newest to oldest using previous over and over (or vice versa), and there's really no point to doing that.

I've been uploading a large doujin and editing the next/previous fields in addition to using a pool. From what I can tell the only way to directly view a pool in order without going back to the pool page between images is to use the slideshow feature, which doesn't seem to work with notes. If it was a scanlation instead though then the slideshow would be fine to view it in order.
