I'm against this, I'd rather pencil be used exclusively for wooden pencils and not include mechanical pencils.

I'm with NWF Renim here. Almost all mechanical pencils don't even resemble their wooden counterparts.
There are only 15 pages of pencil; editing them to wooden_pencil and mechanical_pencil, then implicating both to pencil wouldn't be too difficult.
There also exists a rarely used colored_pencil tag. Should I flesh this out too and have it implicated to pencil (or even to wooden_pencil)?

Makes sense, why not?
Doing so. I'd like to point out that we have a different problem as well that I'm not going to get to. brush is being used for both paintbrush and hairbrush without the use of either of those more specific tags in many cases, so if someone wants to deal with that, be my guest.

Taking a shot at it. For paintbrush, do we want to distinguish between the smaller ones used for art/calligraphy vs the wide ones that you might paint a wall with (post #574876, post #433868, post #249664)?
Done. Still one page of images I was unsure about though: pencil -mechanical_pencil -wooden_pencil

Yes, we do. writing_brush perhaps?
