Apparently Zavenda2 has taken it upon him/herself to police the you_gonna_get_raped tag, among a very few others, such as hard_gay. This has been going on in earnest since October, and he has removed it from over 150 posts. No explanations, no forum posts, no associated comments; nothing.
I just sent a polite C&D to the user since it seemed more like misguided good intentions that vandalism, but it looks like some cleanup is in order. Recommendations? I dread reinterpreting all the you_gonna_get_raped pics. That's muddy water sometimes.
I assume you meant post #564692. I"m not sure about any of those since rape is implied but not imminent. It could be I'm still not getting the tag, though.
...I hate this tag. Most people using it have never seen nor heard of the meme that it came from, and definitely have never read the wiki, and the humor is kind of lost. I"m thinking that's why it's so horribly misused. It's an old conversation that never seemed to make progress in forum #12906, but maybe it's time.
I don't really think post #156870 should have the tag, it's just a bunch of random anonymous background surprised by a gust of winding offering an eyeful. There's no imminent threat. Likewise with post #430637 - seems to me she's more angry/raging over something than anything else.
And I dunno about others, but personally I'd dump post #591143 in the about_to_be_raped category rather than YGGR. Where's the comedy value?
As for post #133381, I wouldn't personally tag it. I think you_gonna_get_raped is foremost a visual element (why I'd qualify the wriggle post), and there's nothing of it in this image, aside from the text caption.
Let's not attempt to address every single post in this thread. Naturally you can go change those tags if you feel they're off--no offense taken.
My point was originally that we had a tag vigilante on our hands, but now it's more about a tag that's very subjective. Per the wiki, it's supposed to be associated with an obscure meme where someone was leering, but no matter how hard you hammer that into the member base, new members and current members with no reading comprehension will always derail that. You can't make a tag with "rape" in it just mean "leering". We could fix that by dumping this tag and replacing it with leering where appropriate.
I would really like to do away with you_gonna_get_raped altogether. No matter how hard we try, we'll never be able to rope this tag in. It's a big red button and people can't resist pushing it.
I don't really like changing the tag myself due to the history, but well, yeah - I usually check & clean up the tag at least once every month or so, usually results in a handful of fixes.
I'd like to think of a better name than just "leering" though - I think it's a bit too specific to adequately portray all the images currently under the YGGR -tag.
There's no tirade in this thread, but it spawned because one of the members was doing a "daily cleanup" of the you_gonna_get_raped tag. I was referring to that as a tirade, but really he was just changing a few each day.
And yes, I used "tirade" out of context. I should have said "campaign".
