Weapon behind back literally means the weapon is behind the back. Unless we read its wiki, we won't know it actually means holding a weapon behind the back.
So I think it's better to rename it as "holding weapon behind back", like holding behind back. But the system said it couldn't be renamed because the posts are over 200, so I post the problem here.

I assume this is what you're trying to do. I don't think the current one is too confusing especially since we already have weapon_on_back, but the rename would be harmless.
The tag needs significant cleanup if that's the intended usage, though yeah it's redundant with weapon on back if it's just left as it is.

I wonder if we can let weapon behind back for situations like these where the weapon is behind the character but not held, touched, or carried, and it doesn't quite count as a weapon background.

I don't think we need this. These aliases are necessary because people are prone to confuse these tags with sword on back & co. A knife is not usually carried on one's back.
