I think the more correct terns for those are either "cotton swabs" (general term) or "q-tips" (brand name term).
cotton bud? I've never heard them call that ever, though looking at wikipedia I see that's the British term for them. Where I live they're more commonly called q-tips, less commonly called cotton swabs, and never cotton buds.
*sigh* such a harsh conclusion, I think it would have been more logical to jump to that perhaps we should have an alias for it. Though I'd support cotton swab as the primary tag, but it doesn't seems to matter on goggle with both bud and swab having about equal results.
I support cotton swab as well.
