In literally every case I cared to check I found that the post was rated questionable originally, and that the user who changed it to safe wasn't listed in the tag history. Now, there's a known bug where if you change a post's rating with the drop-down mode menu in the post index it won't show up in the tag history, so that's probably what's happening.
So yeah, I don't really know what to do about this other than to just let people know that some unknown person has been misrating a lot of posts lately.
I've been noticing this a lot as well, not just for popular images. It's really bugging me.
On a similar note, I've been following a user who's been misrating posts over the past few days (he's changing them manually, so it's showing up in his tag change history). Some of his rating changes are right, but I've found that I (or some other user) has had to fix the rating for about 90-95% of his changes
Should tag-autopromoted-rating posts automatically be rating locked to prevent this kind of vandalism? It's hard to browse safebooru with boobs and maebari showing up alongside your twintails search.
I thought the post misrating of the past few days was limited to nadie1412, the user Algasir was talking about. But now I see this is far more widespread.
Searching maebari + rating:s turned up almost two pages of misrated material. There shouldn't even be a single page of that.
Hmm, not sure if this is related or not, but I just came across post #542692 via safebooru, when it obviously isn't safe. The tag history also has no record of who or when the rating might have been switched. It shows "questionable" the whole way through, including the last change where I flipped it back. It basically looks like I changed nothing in the history.
As for maebari. As far as I'm aware, it can still fall under safe so long as everything important is covered. We've debated whether things like 2 piece swimsuits or lingerie should go under questionable or not. But as of the last time we discussed things (forum #19183 I think), fully covered subjects (in so far as breasts and genitalia are concerned) that aren't engaged in any sort of sexual activity are still encompassed by safe. We could discuss it again, but that was my interpretation.
Safe was never really defined in a way that really meant work-safe since Danbooru was established, despite the fact that Albert indicated that that was his original intent in that thread I linked to.
I wasn't paying much attention to this thread until I came across post #539689 misrated as safe. Like alot of the others, there was nothing in the tag history to show who did it.
Maybe we need to pressure albert to work on that bug or disable drop-down menu rating changes temporarily, so we can catch this guy. I almost have to think that there's at least one vandalism account involved.
Edit: In fact, I just checked and ALOT of enraku_(pixiv) posts have been misrated as safe. Fixing, looking for evidence of whodunnit.
With rating changes in tag history, it simply shows one letter for rating on each line (iteration of edits), right? So to see changes, you'd most likely have to see the entire tag edit history for a post.
Would it be an idea to have what we have for tags, and have a "-x +y" type record for ratings? Or a "x -> y" type?
Typically it doesn't matter, since if there is a rating change it will show up as being different from the line before. The problem here is that the rating change isn't putting a line in the history at all.
The fix should be deployed now. Rating changes via the mode menu (and direct API calls) are now tracked. The rating locked flag is also now observed for these direct edits. Although now I'm wondering if vandals are targeting something else now...
It seems that the Undo button on the tag history page doesn't undo rating changes, as I learned in my attempt to undo nadie1412's vandalism. It only works with tag edits and makes it more time consuming to fix all the misrates.
Whether this is intentional or just an oversight, I don't know. Thoughts?
Yeah, it's a bug. The Revert button also doesn't undo rating changes.
The site should probably limit the rate of post edits for regular members so that in the future vandals won't be able to do as much damage. That, or just remove the options in the post mode menu entirely so regular members can't do mass ratings changes or run tag scripts.
Really? I apologize. I was just changing anything I saw as Questionable or Explicit (posts edited by nadie, I mean) back to what it was rated before. I guess I should have used my own judgment a little more.
