Tag Alias: Fire Emblem Names

Posted under General

A new user recently added a bunch of character names to already name-tagged Fire Emblem posts. I assume those added were western variations of pre-existing Asian names.

My initial thought was to have someone revert the edits as one might those of a vandal account rather than force the user (or myself) from doing them one by one. And also to remind the user of our naming policy. (What level user account is capable of doing such mass reverts?). But perhaps a simple Alias would solve the issue and prevent it's recurrence. The affected names are as follows.

tiki and also tiki_(fire_emblem) -> chiki
catria -> katua
caeda -> sheeda
palla -> paola
idun_(fire_emblem) -> idoun
fae -> fa

I am correct in assuming the pre-existing names were more in keeping to our policy of using the original Japanese names where possible?

The problem with aliasing just because one person is getting it wrong is that those are all simple single name aliases with a low number of posts. Not something I'd want to alias.

I just undid them all (except one that was just adding hair color). You can highlight all the changes on a page at once (so up to 20) and undo as a batch. I'm not sure what user level this is restricted to.

I'll mail them about the names.

Hmmm, I actually didn't know we could do this, I just figured it out. Shift click to select multiple posts. I owe Lokispawn an apology since he initially contacted me on this issue, and I didn't think Janitors had this capability. At least now I know how to do it in the future.
