Meanwhile, it is true that the pool is being overused.

Some might argue that people seem to be posting a lot of Touhou in general without regarding quality. Not me of course, but some people.
Back on topic though, I don't think there's much point in debating too much about this. Pools like these are very subjective by definition, and people's opinions on what's cute, disgustingly adorable, etc. will always be different.
Well, if RiderFan wants to stick to his original concept, he can make the pool private, maybe letting a few trusted connoisseurs make suggestions by PM or something.
I must admit there used to be a special feeling about "Disgustingly Adorable", when browsing it for five minutes made me vomit a mixture of syrup, honey and sugar. ^^

I feel its over used because its subjective but if we have a couple examples then we can use that as a yard stick.

If it passes, it was either posted by a Contributor, or someone in the Janitorial staff liked it enough to approve.
If you take issue with the quality of the approved images, use the Unapprove feature.
If it gets reapproved again, and isn't an image that violates the TOS, then grit your teeth and move on.
Just for clarity's sake, when I think "Disgustingly Adorable", I think "so cute your teeth hurt just looking at it" and "things that might cause a cuteness overload in the viewer."
