Reason: Proper Japanese name order.

Is there a way for lower-level users to mass edit tags without running to the forums each time? I hate to spam up the forums with these, but editing 50+ tags one-by-one pretty much sucks, even with the dropdown feature.

There's tag scripts, but I think an alias would be better in this case.

Done this one, and I'll get to the others in a little while, but to answer this question for now: tag scripts are the easiest way, unless that's what you were referring to as the "dropdown feature". It goes really fast for me, even if we're talking a few hundred images. 5-10 seconds to set the script, then a click per thumbnail does it very quickly.
But still, usually an alias should be put in place anyway, even if they're edited manually. And only I can do that, so posting a thread is still a good idea. Unless the artist has like 3 posts, in which case feel free to change them yourself and overwrite/remove the wiki for the old tag so it doesn't get found by Find Artist.
