Usefulness of "You have tags that are underused on your uploads"

Posted under General

Hi,

Wanted to ask other people's opinion on:
If the current way the automated mail for underused tags messages has been useful to you?

In the beginning it was pretty interesting, highlighting some popular tags that i didn't know existed.
However, at least for me, for the last few months it's been only 2 types of reactions to the tags in my messages:
- "I guess they changed how a tag is spelled and someone updated my older posts" (ex: zombieland_saga became zombie_land_saga
- "I guess i forgot to tag hetero or 1boy in 2-3 of the 400 images i posted this fortnight. Which inevitably will still happen every now and then."

In the 1st case auto-complete already gives you the current version of the tag so, a reminder to use it is already too late, you're already using it.
In the 2nd case, since the mail doesn't say what images, i had to go through 20 pages of the "Upload tag changes report" and, yes, only 3 instances.
At least this time i saw that people misstagged 1boy in 2 of those images so i changed it back, but it's usually not the case.
Not to mention, that's a lot of work outside of what the automated mail provides.

I've been finding it rather obnoxious for me as of late. Sure the mails don't come often, but the 'underused' tags it reports tend to be of tags that I already use heavily. I don't know how many posts are affected by me not using those tags, but it's become a cumbersome mechanism that promotes absolute perfection in tagging, and punishes 'undertagging' with blaring and pointless messages. Even if you think you're tagging everything right, you still get those messages, so what's the point of trying too hard?
