Futanari and all its sisters

Posted under Tags

I would like address a gap in the tagging system in relation to futanari images.

Issue

  • newhalf is strict and requires that the 2 parts be confirmed: (1)penis and (2)no vagina
  • full-package_futanari is also strict, requiring 3 parts: (1)penis, (2)vagina and (3)testicles
  • futanari has a soft definition, with a lot of unconfirmed images as to the makeup of the groin area

As it stands, there is currently no tag to indicate the traditional futanari setup, i.e. (1)penis, (2)vagina (3)no testicles

There are a few ways this gap could be handled.

Method #1

This would move the unconfirmed images to another umbrella tag that wouldn't have a restrictive definition. An example of a tag that could be used is intersex.

Additionally, it would tighten up the definition of futanari to only include images with a confirmed penis and vagina with no testicles.

So both confirmed and unconfirmed images would fall under intersex and then confirmed images would fall under the appropriate futanari, full-package_futanari or newhalf.

Method #2

This would keep unconfirmed images under futanari, where it's definition would be loosened up to allow this.

Then, a new tag would be created in order to signify the traditional futanari setup, i.e. penis and vagina with no testicles.

Some thoughts on new tag names include the following:

The confirmed and unconfirmed images would then be handled similar to Method #1, however the names of the tags would be different.

Final

The main goal is to fill the void in this category, but it would also seek to clean up the futanari images for proper use and searching. Once the situation is resolved and clarified, I plan to help tag garden and maintain this setup.

Thoughts and other ideas regarding this are of course welcome and appreciated. Thank you.

Not really... that devolved into a slogfest without any real resolution. This time, those that care about this topic should discuss things out properly, whether or not there's any resolution or not is in their hands.

The point is, as I pointed out in the previous topic, we already have a tag for futanari with no testicles, and that tag is (shockingly enough) no_testicles. There's no need for creating new tags or changing the definitions of existing ones to remedy a perceived gap in the way we tag these characters.

I see the other proposal here is to define the way we tag ambiguous cases (i.e. when we can see a female body and a penis but nothing underneath), but I think the current method of tagging them as futanari is fine. I'm not fond of using intersex as an umbrella tag, since that refers to a class of genetic mutations that includes neither futanari (a fictional, technically impossible concept) or newhalves (biologically male individuals who have had surgery).

No testicles?

I find the tags wiki page explains itself, particularly the two words "Generally" and "Usually". I don't find it to be very "defining" or scholarly(?) with words like that.

If i remember rightly no_testicles was also "debunked"(?) in the same thread as no_testicles also contains other content outside of futanari.

That's exactly the issue, the ambiguous cases.
You also just detailed the current issue too. Due to the lax definition used in futanari, ambiguous newhalf and futanari are being lumped together with actual futanari.
Intersex works as a broad term as it in itself is a broad term that covers a range of possibility.

If futanari did exist it would count as intersex (unless a person was changed after birth by magic or Science!). The problem is that RL newhalf and intersex people vehemently oppose being classified as the same thing. Especially intersex people find laws written for transgender people fail to address their needs and situation. There is no umbrella term in English, mostly because a lot of people dont want one. "Genital aberrancy" is the closest I can think of and it is of course considered quite offensive.

I rewrote the no testicles wiki. Would this work better?

Slightly, but it kind of "moves" the issue instead of fixing what is more perceived as the issue at hand.
Kinda just makes things even more somewhat needlessly complicated in the longer run. Especially since this additional tag has multiple uses.

Think of how full-package_futanari is tagged, it would make sense for its "sub tag" to follow similar ruling and not arbitrarily giving it different rules.
At least in my opinion.

Hope this helps to put things in perspective.

Not to be nasty or anything but that just reinforces my point of the current use of futanari being nearly pointless as everything contained in it is either part of another tag or unconfirmed of its proper use.

With that in mind you could almost rename the current futanari tag to maybe intersex(just an example, im not fond of it but it "works")
and rename no_balls to futanari and be in a better standing of terminology on both fronts.
Oh and the outliers, rare, still could always get a more appropriate tag like male_futanari(男ふたなり).
