Missing image files

Since the website went down (yesterday/today) for maint. it MESSED EVERYTHING up.

I'm sure the admin is aware, but is waiting for the next "scheduled maint". Dunno what they changed, but it won't load any images.... 75...85% of the time

Very true. It is now happening to me, which makes it serious.

I can stand missing images for a day, although it defeats the purpose of an image site rather. However, and this is not criticism since I am very grateful for all they do --- and tiny flaws can completely shutter a website which makes running one a guessing game --- it would perhaps be best if the whole site was taken right off-line during maintenance, and not released into the wild until completely perfect.

Over the last few days, at first I got 503s etc. saying no access, then the site was generally up and evidently allowing uploads, which complicates matters during convalescence, but there were 'glitches' then the images are missing.

Having the site off the net during repair will not kill people.

A nice idea, but software development just doesn't work like that.

While stuff is getting smoothed out though, I would suggest going back and forth, trying Sonohara and Hijiribe as the problems don't always affect both.

Who's talking about software ? I'm talking of taking the desirability of going into Maintenance Mode during upgrading and tinkering.

So the "glitches" you were talking about aren't in software?

Taking the whole site offline to fix it doesn't really accomplish anything besides what Albert can verify by himself on the site when it's only loaded by one user (himself). Bug reports and troubleshooting from users would cease, so it may never get figured out in that case.

Certainly not. They are in application of hosting. You may not be aware a tiny mistake in as simple a thing as one .htaccess file can bork a website.

Bug reporting can wait until the site is deemed ready to go online. It may be harsh, but taking it offline is the only way to stop interference from users accessing the site during the maintenance.

What's even causing that certain images aren't shown or load extremely slow?

Site before the proper load (admin needs to rebuild database or cache)

- Before Ctrl+F5: http://danbooru.donmai.us/images/data/__kijin_seija_touhou_drawn_by_satou_yuuki__b979eaa0240773a4fc11b85536d458ff.jpg (404 Not Found)
- After Ctrl+F5: http://danbooru.donmai.us/data/__kijin_seija_touhou_drawn_by_satou_yuuki__b979eaa0240773a4fc11b85536d458ff.jpg (200 OK)

By us having to hard reload the pages, it does fix itself, but not all th ttime.
