Topic: Is there any way to fix parent-children post order?

Posted under General

As the title said, I recently translated some comic and for some reason the uploader uploaded the posts backwards (like, the latter pages uploaded before the former pages), and it was rather confusing for both the translator and the reader.

It's post #2894299 in any case you're wondering. I tried removing all the parent tags and re-parent them again but it's still in the wrong order.

Thanks.

Use a pool. Comics should use pools instead of parent/child relationships for precisely this reason.

Yeah, if you screwed up the parent-child order by not uploading in order, you'll have to use a pool. No getting around that.

So even if the comic only has three pages, I should make a pool for those three pages? I feel kinda bad for doing so, considering we have thousands of pools and it seems like a waste just to group those three pages.
(I'm not the one who uploaded them by the way)

    Thank you anyway.

Small pools aren't uncommon, we have over 1500 pools that are four pages or less. Cases like this are exactly what pools are meant for.

In fact, I would recommend using pool for everything that goes beyond 2 posts because it looks better and you can organize a pool better than parent-child relationships and some stuff are receiving post parents when they shouldn't.
Stuff like post #2892646 should be avoided, but the problem with pool is sometimes that they can't be named properly, so there isn't one for thoser three posts, yet.

Maybe we could have a forum topic for getting/giving help with creating pool names; I know I have some parent-child sets I'd like to pool (e.g. post #1898077 - some Explicit-rated child posts), but don't have good names for, even untranslated.

For cases like this, the artist commentary's title might just do wonders if you want a pool title.
Of course, follow the guidelines of howto:pools when making them. (tl;dr Copyright name / Original - Title (artist))

+1 I think that's a good idea. We already have help topics for artists, wikis and tagging, but really nothing for pools AFAIK.

That's what I usually do for titles. Of course, some post sets I want to pool don't even have that. And, of course, I already use that naming format, and even put the original, untranslated title (if available/applicable) and artist name (with a link to the artist's page here) in the pool description.
