No Panties tag is being used too freely. I think some expectations or explanations need to be put in place for certain tags such as no panties. To me this tag should only be used if it is visible that the subject is wearing no panties. Not used just because another picture of same subject had no panties or just because it is known the subject usually does not wear them. I think some people are just copying and pasting tags with no regard to what they are. When I search for no panties I want just that, not a track jacket that covers everything and there is no indication the subject is or is not wearing panties. Even some visible ass cheek still does not mean no panties as a thong could easily reveal that much cheek but still be panties.

I really have to agree with you there, I've seen it misused more than I can count and have been doing my best at fixing those images when I come across them. The problem is that I have never been good at writing wiki pages and the like so I prefer to leave that to those with more skills in that.

Both vaginal and anal wikis says to only tag the image with sex if a penis is being inserted, should this be changed to include strap-ons? Or should they not get the sex tag, which most of them already have?

Since you're asking when to use the sex tag specifically, I'll quote its wiki:

Don't use it for ... acts that don't involve penile penetration.

Seems pretty unambiguous to me, in spite of all the sex posts that actually involve dildos and tentacles.

Wasn't aware of that thread, thanks. It seems like there hasn't been much discussion about whether strap-ons fit the sex tag, but the responses to topic #7082 seemed to be in favor of it. Also, restricting sex to flesh-and-blood penises is problematic in cases where it's hard to tell if the penetrating partner is futanari or simply wearing a strap-on.

It seems pretty straight forward to me. Sex is the act of a penis and vagina cumming together. No pun intended. Seriously though anything that does not involve penetration with a penis is masturbation or foreplay.

Yeah, that was the only thread I found that was even related to that, and I cast my vote for it to count since as you said it can be difficult to tell sometimes and since the act more-or-less looks the same.

The "penile penetration" part was added recently by @Benit149, I believe to exclude tentacle sex as per topic #13661. I don't think it was meant to exclude strap-ons too. Strap-ons weren't brought up at that time, so whether they count as sex was never considered. I think it should.

Actually I wasn't positive how to treat strap-ons, but I assumed that they fell under object insertion since it's a sex toy mimicking a penis, like what a dildo does, but worn by women who mimic being the male partner. I think of sex strictly as the actual act of intercourse, where a man injects semen into a woman in order to impregnate her. Whatever other sex acts occur, whether between man/woman, man/man, or woman/woman, I don't believe those should be included or else we'll just confuse the issue.

EDIT: However since futanaris are thrown into the mix, I have to throw my hands into the air and assume that strap-ons can be treated as part of the futanari. The problem I find is that you can never tell if the woman wearing the strap-on is really a futa or not unless there are other indicators like flesh and/or cum. I'm kind of iffy on making a strap-on -> futanari implication request because while it's "tag what you see", it's also impossible to know what's really going on in the image, so it's not a guarantee that every woman who wears a strap-on is a futa.

I did add "penile penetration" to the sex wiki to avoid tentacle sex being grouped under it as well. However in forum #125992, @iridescent_slime asked about restoring the tentacle sex tag, and I agreed because, as I said, "It doesn't fit with sex in the strictest sense (like a penis does), nor are tentacles considered inanimate objects (like with *_object_insertion)." Tentacles are an odd case, so creating a tag to cover it would be a good idea since it is so common on Danbooru. I can't think of any other way to circumvent this issue.

I'm all for that tag, I've never tagged tentacles with sex either since it's even less of a penis than a strap-on.

At least in the case of strap-ons, the participants are mimicking the positions used during ordinary intercourse. That's not something you can say about tentacles or handheld sex toys.
