Danbooru

Danbooruup and Firefox 3.0

Posted under General

Simple question: is Danbooruup FF3 compatible?

It's an important enough extension for me that I just won't be able to switch to FF3 if it'll break. And I'd really like to switch in the next few months.

Updated

According to FF3 itself, at least, it's not. Neither is Greasemonkey, Firebug, Platypus, or Rikaichan, all of which I'm waiting to update ASAP as well. But I switched to FF3 RC1 anyway, just because I couldn't stand FF2's ridiculous memory leaks and instability. FF3 RC1 still has some kinks, but overall it looks to be quite an improvement so far.

Hmm, I checked Greasemonkey and Rikaichan and they have 3.0 versions out.

Greasemonkey says 3.0 compatible here: http://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748

Rikaichan doesn't list 3.0 compatibility here http://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2471 but theres an updated version here: http://www.polarcloud.com/rikaichan/

Supposedly anyway, I haven't switched yet to tell.

Oh course, I'm not really clear on all this alpha beta release-candidate stuff, so I guess there might be something I'm not seeing and they're not actually compatible...

Platypus I really need a new version of, but the addons.mozilla site says it hasnt been updated in a year and a half. I'll have to leave it behind if I switch I guess...

But it's all moot. No danbooruup = cannot function on internet = can't upgrade.

Alphas are always older than betas, which are usually older than RCs (in the case of Firefox, they are). Rikaichan works in 3.0 RC1, you're right :D Thanks! Greasemonkey is only updated to 3.0b5, which is older than RC1.

By the way, IIRC there is a way to install FF3 separately from FF2, in order to test it out. At least the alphas were called "Minefield" and installed in a totally different location (though they used the same user data as FF2, which sort of fucked up FF2 - another reason I was kind of forced to upgrade).

But yeah, a danbooruup with FF3 RC1 compatibility would be great. I await a new version with great anticipation.

Yeah, that's why I'm hesitant to try 3.0 until I'm all set to upgrade for good.

I guess the big question is, is buffered around and actively involved in danbooru-type things? Albert, any idea?

If not, is it possible for any kind soul with the right code and skills to update it themselves?

Fair enough. I was sort of wondering that when I saw all the extensions modified for beta1, 2, 3, 4, 5... no point spending too much time on it if official release is soon. I'm better off waiting for official before I upgrade anyway.
