Tags for male/female only or focus

BUR #51088 has been rejected.

mass update 1girl solo -> female_only
mass update 1boy solo -> male_only
mass update multiple_girls -1boy -multiple_boys -> female_only
mass update multiple_boys -1girl -multiple_girls -> male_only

With the default 2 tag limit, it's incredibly difficult to filter out images based on whether characters of a sex are present. Adding male_only and female_only tags would make it far easier to do so.

1girl solo isn't necessarily female only. see tag group:character count.

What Zetsubousensei said is exactly why it was deprecated. We don't really need a tag for it when the site is overwhelmingly female focus to begin with, making it more logical to tag the exceptions in male focus and other focus instead.

Now a tag for when multiple genders take up equal presence is a tag I've expressed interest in in the past (topic #32596), as that is actually pretty hard to search for. Unfortunately, I'm afraid (and Evazion as well) that tag would end up tainted by people assuming it be used for any instance of 1girl 1boy, which is why that tag has never happened.

I guess bringing female focus back could facilitate such a search through a -female_focus -male_focus clause, but you're out of your mind if you think I'm going to honestly propose that. I'd rather tag the exception here, and I have no idea how to do it without running smack into the concerns brought up in topic #32596.

No just like male focus isn't male_only, it's intentionally broader based on what someone would actually be searching for. An incidental in the background doesn't automatically mean that the man is no longer the focus.

Any reason for the deprecation?

Because 1girl solo is the presumed "default" an overwhelming number of posts with a 1girl or multiple_girls are female_focus so it's a redundant tag. Wheras a 1boy pr multiple_boys might be disembodied_penis surrounding a girl.

it's perfectly understandable but still incredibly disappointing that a tangible tagging issue isn't being resolved because people will be stupid. perhaps tacking on a _focus to the name, i.e. duo focus would make it more obvious what the tag is for and thus help alleviate the potential mistags.

That sounds more like something that would focus on two people (like how solo focus focuses on one). I'd rather name it something like mixed-gender focus.

That said, I don't think creating a tag would be a good idea since it would be too difficult to maintain proper usage. Some users can't even get male focus right, tagging it on posts with a male and female character with equal or near-equal presence (recent examples: post #10294280, post #10308953, post #10309877).
