Especially such a ridiculous retcon. Everyone has the right to choose where to put an end of the story for themselves and ignore any bullcrap after that. That's just how it is with modern adaptations and continuations. They are horrible and don't make any sense, so you pretend they never happened and continue loving the old story you've always loved.
