mackintosh rose
A heavily art nouveau-styled design, created by Scottish architect and artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh, where a rose is drawn as if looking top-down into the bloom with all its petals closely bound to one another, their edges overlapping.
Ginrei from Giant Robo has this design on the breast of her China dress.
Because it closely follows art nouveau themes, the Mackintosh Rose differs from the stenciled rose in many ways. The flower is often closer to budding than being in full bloom, which causes the overall shape of the flower to be more circular. Additionally, the wedges representing the petals are more tightly wrapped and have a more similar crescent-like shape.
Real-life examples of the Mackintosh Rose in art are numerous and plentiful.
