A classic cocktail made with gin (or less traditionally, vodka) and a splash of vermouth, often garnished with an olive. Its popularity and longevity have resulted in the cocktail glass being informally known as a "martini glass", and a number of otherwise unrelated drinks reference the martini in their name (e.g. appletini, chocolate martini).
