The King of Fighters is a fighting game series by SNK. It combines existing characters from SNK's various games and series, including Art of Fighting, Psycho Soldier, Fatal Fury, and Samurai Spirits, as well as a wealth of original characters, in a tournament setting to determine the world's strongest fighter.
Originally a 2D fighter, it now has a 3D spinoff series called KOF: Maximum Impact.
Recently the series has returned to its 2D roots with the high-resolution KoF XII and KoF XIII.
