Contributor Guide
Work In Progress (keine0)
Last Update: 2010-08-21
Want to help out? This guide shows how you can contribute to Danbooru. This guide is written to introduce you the ways which you may help, and our Danbooru Quality guidelines which all contributors adhere to. Please read this guide carefully before making your first contributions.
With an understanding of our rules and guidelines, you will be able to be a better contributor. Guides in bold are essential reading. Know them inside out and you'll go far!
Please note that this guide is still in its making. Expect it to change from week to week until this thing's done. Questions? Please visit forum #45997 to find out what's going on.
Uploading Images (Posts)
Danbooru needs a constant supply of high-quality images. Help us expand our collection by uploading more high-quality art, and giving light to the artistic talent behind them!
Some popular sources of Danbooru's images are organized in ways which require specific handling procedures. We also have special procedures for uploading Flash animations.
- Pixiv Content: Special Procedures
- Anonymous Content: Special Procedures (coming soon)
- Flash Animations: Special Procedures (coming soon)
Danbooru Artist Database (coming soon)
Keep our artists alive! Danbooru features a database that keeps tabs on about every artist who has created art that is ever featured here. Help us keep our intel on our artists fresh and up to date. It's not stalking, it's giving credit!
Tagging Posts (Tags)
Danbooru organizes its art by tags, collections of keywords which describe the content of our massive anime art collection. Tags are the body and blood of Danbooru, making it possible to do things like finding a single image within our collection in a second or highly specific things like listing images with exactly four females depicting a particular kind of clothing being worn.
Writing Wiki Entries (Wiki)
Alongside our Tagging system is a mini scaled-down Wiki system that provides a means of keeping a 'pocket tag encyclopedia'. Our (mostly) venerable help system, which dispenses (most) of the information our users will ever need, also runs on the Wiki.
Notes and Translations (Notes)
Danbooru features a system which allows text notes to be overlaid on top of images in view, as seen on sites like Yahoo!'s Flickr. This feature has found two good uses: curator's notes and non-destructive soft translations.
Danbooru's posts often contain text in Japanese, of all languages other than English. The vast majority of our users are yet to attain a working fluency in Japanese, so why not help out and let them enjoy their favorite art for the time being?
Forum
Have specific issues which are not addressed by the Wiki Help Pages? The forum might be a good place to find the help you need.
Moderation
To ensure that quality standards are met, a moderation system is enforced, to prevent low-quality images from being uploaded, and to allow the removal of content which violate our Rules and Terms of Service.
Cheat Sheets
Privileged Accounts:
Regular contributors in good standing may have their account upgraded to allow them to help out with the site in ways not possible with basic accounts, and are entitled to treats not available with basic accounts. Is a Privileged Account really necessary, and if it is how does a basic member get one?
