I was thinking the same. Feeling compelled to dig up the episode of Top Gear that featured it now, it's such an amazing car and Imizu put as much care and detail into it as he does everything!

So... Guesses: .223, .308 (probably, I mean everyone uses .308 for snipers these days), or .338 Lapua mag (actually, the record for longest confirmed sniper kill was by a British sniper using a .338).

Pretty sure she was using an M249 with a scope, not any sort of sniper rifle; that'd be .223, yeah?

The M249 uses the 5.56x45mm NATO. Using Remington .223 would be less accurate than mil-spec 5.56. Mil-spec 5.56 is a slightly hotter round than the Rem .223, and weapons chambered for 5.56 mil-spec have a longer leade than .223 rifles.
.223 can be used in 5.56 chambered weapons with little ill effect, but using 5.56 mil-spec in a .223 chamber can cause excessive wear and jamming.
