Now I understand. Koa hid the book so Patchy would panic and go try and clean up the entire library to find it again, then when Patchy has everything organized and still can't find it, she'll give her the book back.
At least those are my thoughts before translation.

I hope so too. I like Koa trolling Patchy, but this one can actually lead to seriously bad events. As in, Patchy actually crying(we don't want that, do we?).
It just occurred to me that, destruction of the physical book is not a total calamity, given that Patchy has memorized the whole content and can write it out again.
On the other hand, if Koakuma did destroy the book, then I'm sure Patchouli would finally go off on her. Not sure which I'd prefer at this point, but I'm more leaning toward Patchouli getting the book back safe and sound.

I have a feeling that is what will happen. Patchy's going to cry and we'll all cry our eyes out and then Koa will feel like a complete jerk and we're gonna cry some more. Confound these Touhou fan-strips, they drive me to tears!
It's time to go, so if you'll excuse me.Th-thank you...for all your...hard work.Perhaps I should even read that book for the first time in a while? We got quite a bit organized today.Perhaps I should take just a little break?Book 37: ...Wha'?From the artist's Pixiv pageWhew......huh?....
