Do not play with it, Azusa.
Kill it.
Kill it with fire.

I have to say, as much as I'm personally frightened of Kyubei, he's probably among the most effective characters I've seen in any media. The sheer polarizing reactions that he elicits is nothing short of amazing.
Having said that, however...Azusa is now screwed D:.

"Polarizing" implies there is more than one opinion.
MaidenV
I dont think polarizing is the right word, but I do agree that he is well written. You hate him because the writers want you to. Unfortunately, no one seems to be willing to go along for the ride and watch the story progress, they'd rather white-knight on the behalf of fictional characters

Jesus, its only a show, people. You should really just relax.

I'd say you should spoiler tag that, stuff, except that due to fan art of the scene in question, it's quickly approaching "Darth Vader is Luke's father" levels of knowledge to even those not watching it. Which annoyed me greatly, as I was spoiled before I watched episode 3. And to answer your question, no, I don't think Mami let herself die. A combination of fear and shock just paralyzed her at a crucial moment.
A few questions for you, if you will.
Is it not possible that the desire to protect those girls the very emotion that the show is supposed to give you? It's not like everyone wishing to protect them will stop watching the show or somehow change the outcome. They are, in effect, still going along for the ride.
So if I may ask, why do so many people seem to hate "white-knighting?" It seems better than the alternative, where the characters are so poorly written that you actively HOPE they die. (see: Every slasher film ever)

Is that so? Well, it is regrettable after she was feeling so lively and fearless. And about that "white-knight" stuff, it's just some of us are not so attached to characters. That's what we would like to ave done, but it's also what every story is supposed to make you feel.
My god! I'm so off the thread. Sorry 'bout that.
Saiori
Now with new information, I have to wonder if Mami actually died, wasn't sure if we saw her soul get crushed when she was decapitated. And lawls! twist on saving the familiar in the beginning, if you see a ferret/cabbit/kyubei/random magical blob that asks you to become a magical girl. Smash it to pieces nuff said.
But I do agree, rather than killing Kyubei at this point, I would rather see whats going to happen in the duration of this series xD~

Post-transformation, her Soul Gem takes the form of a hairpin, so it's likely that it got crushed when Charlotte chewed on her head.

Whats the plant Azusa is holding in her hand in panel 2?
