The way I see it, Kyon, not Haruhi, could be the actual source of the weirdness that goes on in their world. Go back and see his first monologue on the way to school, and look at how well it fits what actually happened. There are other little oddities as well, like how every once in a while, people will reply to his internal monologues, how we don't know his real name, things like that. Maybe Haruhi is just a conduit for his power?
comment #42632 The monologue is an introduction by Kyon, as he is the narrator to the whole story. He is logically narrating it after the whole thing happened, so it makes sense. His name isn't a factor in deciding if he's a god too. Haruhi never really responds directly to an inner monologue of Kyon either, it's only one interpretation. I'm not saying he not a god, but just that there's no real proof towards this theory (i find the whole "Why did Haruhi 'summon' Kyon" logical arch much more convincing).
