If anything, the fact the both of them immediately jumped back to their old identities all giddy, all while the other Tempus admitted even they were caught by surprise at the graduation really gives off the same vibes as Gundou Mirei doing her graduation stream after hiatus saying she's going on a vacation then immediately reincarnates 3 days later all happy. It really doesn't reflect well on either companies when their talents doesn't seem to be subtle how glad they are to be freed from their contracts.

Thing is, transitioning from free vtuber/internet persona to vtuber under a company doesn't go as good as it looks. You'd get contracts, minimum stream quota, a lot of rules, not to mention limitations on collabs and whatnot. Not everyone could operate under such restraints, even with the profits dangled before their eyes. As I understand, most of the retirees felt that they can't do as much as they like on the job; look how UNRESTRAINED both of them on their streams after retiring; that'll tell ya something about the stress of working under a production studio.
The part of me that wears the tin-foil hat can't help but suspect the departure of these two along with one of NJSJ's more popular EN male streamers at about the same time isn't a coincidence.

From what I've gathered neither liked working with managers, or actually having to deal with a corporation with... expectations of content. The Hologirls have explained how much *work* goes into the job and one or both of these two didn't seem to want to be arsed about it.

They have both been very vocal with their disinterest with the "corporate vtuber" expectations. Vesper just wanted to stream games and chill without any red rape in the way, and Magni was experiencing creative burnout, not to mention considerably less success than his other account. I don't think either of them ever gave any hints that they disliked working for Hololive specifically, just didn't like that they had to check with someone else everytime they wanted to do something, and especially in Vesper's case needing permission first before he could play a game on stream. Hell, Vesper has even stated he liked his manager, and understood they were just doing their job.
It doesn't say anything about Hololive at all, because literally no one currently or previously working for them has ever so much as hinted that Hololive was an unpleasant company to work for. The most that's ever been hinted at is frustration at the lack of freedom. You can't just point at the handful of graduations, individuals who were clearly not the best fit for the more limiting corporate experience, and say, "Well, that's not a good look for that company, despite the fact it's still retaining 90% of talents and they all seem to be very happy working there."
This is in stark contrast to Nijisanji, whose talents openly complain about the company screwing everything up constantly, while they're still employed there.

I mean it goes both ways. I am not trying to say COVER is a bad company, I'm confident that even right now, and you don't even have to look far, Altare and Axel will still consider being in Holostar an opportunity of a lifetime.
But the same fact even you acknowledged that Magni sees much less success working when a company than when he's by himself also really reminded of Yakushiji Suzaku, who likewise graduated Holostas way back apparently while stating that he doesn't feel Holostars could provide him the growth he was expecting. So I dunno the fact that 3 years later and a Holostar member felt the same way kinda point to an issue that was not fixed. I mean to this day they still also haven't fixed Holostars anti problem that has been there since day 1 and is very much one of the factors holding their growth back.
And yes, while ANYCOLOR is currently the worse of the two, particular on the EN branch, I also think the narrative "ANYCOLOR and they chose black" is also an exaggeration when there are many who will also still consider being in Nijisanji the best opportunity they ever got in their whole life, notably Alban and Sonny, who likewise lost a genmate in a very similar situation as Magni and Vesper here. I mean to this day Nijisanji still is the only company where male Vtubers can reach beyond 400K subs.
All I want to say is people should have a fair amount of doubts on both companies. Because otherwise much as it's so popular to hate on Niji management right now, I also don't like when people use it as an excuse to become haters on the talents themselves as well, much as I'm already seeing Holostars antis using Vesper and Magni to drive their bullshit narrative that all of Holostars should be gone.
