Whilst admiring the whole concept, I know little of this game: there seem to be every species, as on Noah's Ark; are they all part of the Friends, or are some rarer animals co-opted into the Kemono fraternity by private artists as an idiosyncratic choice ?
This lovely breathes the very essence of what we think the Savannah is like.

The base concept of Kemono Friends is 'a zoo filled with anthropomorphic animals' thanks to a mysterious substance called Sandstar. Most of the animals are based on species that's normally part of a zoo. The rarer animals are introduced later as usually a zoo has museum built-in which displays animal skeletons, as Sandstar will also turn any part left from the animal into a Friend. Sandstar can also 'Friend-ify' concepts such as legendary beasts only exists in tales and myth by unknown process; and yes, there's some Friends that has ascended to canon thanks to zoo collaborations

All the humanoid animal Friends are, for the most part, official designs already present in the game and further expanded upon across 2 season of anime, a couple of promotional manga, and a newly relaunched mobile game.
