Belladonna
Belladonna
・A poisonous plant. It has purple petals in bloom.
・The name means 'beautiful lady' in Italian.
・A few drops of its extract dribbled into the eye widen the pupil. As this was seen as attractive, it was used in Italy during the Renaissance as a cosmetic. The effects can cause the pupil to not return to normal, the person becoming delirious, and in the worst case it can even lead to blindness.
