This seems like a great idea. Playing in the past as Oak or Agatha.
GSDAkatsuki
She looks cute
MrKenta
I wonder if Kabutos weren't extinct when Agatha was a kid.
Keo
Yep, When she was little aerodactyl flew in the sky and Shelldons were as plentiful as rattata. She's ancient alright.

Sepia and Monochrome... Guess the third game's Pea-Green.
Tetsamaru
Playing as Oak would be broken as hell. Remember how much of a freaking tank he is in the pokemon manga? The guy is a pokemon master that decided to trade his brawn for brain.
Noppera Bo
About the only faut I can find with this is the Youg Oak and Agatha are dressed way too modern, their clothes wouln't look out of place today. If they did do a "back in the day" Pokemon game, I think Youg Oak should be attired in something more like a 1920's-30's kid, with knickerbockers, suspenders, knee high Argyle socks, ankle high laceup boots or oxfords, and one of those soft cloth caps. As for Agatha, how about a Victorian/Edwardian look, say a straw boater, a dark midcalf length dress with a pinafore on top dark stockings and two-tone high button shoes (like what Jane had in Tarzan, but with lower heels) Of course that's just how I'd do it.

Well, we're also talking about the Pokémon world. A collared buttonup with hemmed pants and an aproned dress are pretty olde-tymey in an age where everything branded with some ball silhouette and has irreverently applied stripes and dots.
Mugen fuego25
I agree. I think it good already as it is.
JakeBob
Hot-damn. I'd play that game.
TristaK
Holy shit, I want to play this. Although I wish someone would translate it a little.
Are they saying that the game would involve them not capturing, but sketching pokemon?
Because that sounds like a hilariously awesome game right there.
Magus
I think it's that the Pokedex hadn't been invented yet so you record the ones you've seen by hand instead.

What's the final challenge? A tourney among friends to establish the Elite Four?
Roywood
YESSSHHH, I want this game, lol.
Greyman2
The pic says that the story changes depending on who you pick. My guess is that that would probably be the final challenge for Agatha's story, rather than the both of them.
garyseven
fat little Zapdos with the top two spikes on its head painted to look like Pikachu ears, eh?
Knave
So the legendary birds are the starter pokemon. I can't help but wonder if this game would have a professor that had previously captured them for beginning trainers to use.

Heh, Lemon Demon's Samuel and Rosella came to mind just now [read: last night]...
Chochobakke
Actually ALL of the legendary starters look a bit like other "starters". The Moltres looks a bit like a Torchic, and there's something a bit Piplupish about Articuno's face
lol123qaz
Wow that oak looks just like he did in pokemon the movie 4 or what ever one had celebi and suicune but the starters would be more like Dratini Kangaskhan or Ghastly the real question is what did he do with everything he caught...there was no storage system and no lab.....did he keep them in the back yard or toss them in a shoe box
Chochobakke
I'm not so sure about the "no storage system". If you take the TV show as canon (and under the circumstances that seems pretty safe) Pokeballs, of one form or another have been around for an astonshing amount of time. One episode (the one with the Giant Alakazm, Gengar, and Jigglypuff) had sort of proto-pokeballs that were supposed to be something along the line of 5000 years old, and the episode with the Ghost pokemon in the shipwreck, has the Captain using a pokeball that looked almost exactly like the modern day one, even though the scene in question was taking place several hundred years previosly.Besides there appears to be a ball of sorts in the picture The fancy-shmancy system that allows the balls to travel back and forth probably didn't exist yet but the balls themselves probably did. And since a Pokemon inside it's ball is more or less in stasis, all you really need is a room with racks to store the balls which can be pretty low tech. I also suspect that in the absece of that eletro-ball transfer system, there was no 6 ball max rule in effect, you could probably fill your whole knapsack with filled balls, if you could carry them.
Urmean
Back in MY day, we had to walk 5 miles in the snow just to find some Pokemon, and had to record their data with our BARE HANDS

What if... What if this IS what will be Generation 5?
keyblader85
^I would absolutely lose my shit.
fixit
cool idea, but it won't happen T_T
Shaomu
They could probably get away with Sepia being the third 5thGen game, now that black and white have been announced. Hopefully this'd be what its like. Also, the DSi's SD card function would be more than useful for exchanging pokedex information/artwork.

I'd imagine Gray (perhaps Monochrome) would be more likely.
"In a small, rural town, Pokemanz are a...darker...shade of - Gray Version"

Epic: I would play this forever.
But, I have one question: Who would bestow these starters upon these trainers?
Yojilk
this looks way to awesome, i wish it happened
neozigma
Maybe there has been studies from other pokemons from a long time but never recorded , so then anyboy could habe bestow that pokemons to them ( lets say they are legendary because they had been from a race but because of some event , they became the only survivants ) even if we think about it , a little accident , an old man , any familiar or something like that could have bestow that pokemon to them...
In Resume : FUND IT !!! NAWWWW !!!!!
Plasmapitch
Just knowing that yukinari's grandson's gonna be "badass" is enough for me to choose him XD

Don't you mean 15 miles??

mastertc
this would be a great concept for a game
OhCrap
Agatha's birth PREDATES the Kabuto. She was probably Eirin's nanny at some point; that's how old she is.
Snow Storm
I would forgive Nintendo for thier BS if they would to make this.
Meso'ed
A ROM hack of this game is under development.

Wait, what? Seriously? It's being funded? I'd love to see how they'll pull this off.
pc88
Nice. I can't wait to see what they'll pull out, though admittingly I'm keeping my expectations low.

An RPG Maker based version is also being made:
