And possibly the fact that he was able to get famous enough to have his own crossovers, comics/stories and porno pictures. I would be pissed too if he get to have all those stuff for being stupid or whatever he does on 2ch or whatever place he's from.
I like Buront, at least in the Touhou crossover comic. Anyone that takes up the mantle of Tankhood and treats Knighthood as a means of being popular can't be all bad. :b

Who care's what he's like in real life? Buront is now a fictional character unto himself, completely separate from his real life persona. I guess he's easier to like if you didn't know who he was prior to the crossover becoming popular.
Everybody have their own hates, just like touhou. Some people hate touhou but you can't understand why, some people hate MJ but you can't understand why, some people hate YOU but can't understand why.

This statement is ALSO ignoring the fact that, aside from the person the character is based on, Buront the character is a massive Gary Stu. And he's not even a well-made one too. The dislike stems primarily this issue.

Althrough you say that, do you mind telling us who the hell Gary Stu is since I'm pretty sure not everybody knows who he is or bother to search for his name. The way you just say Buront is just like that guy doesn't really help with anything since we won't know if Gary Stu was a complete faggot or Jesus reborn.
Actually MARTY Stu (yeah, minor slip up on my part, it's been a while) is just what writers call a male Mary Sue. In other words, a male self-insert character who does 'cool' stuff that suspiciously border on wish fulfillment.
TV Tropes has a more general view on the issue than my definition.
Not at all. I'm just speaking from experience, as an amateur writer in two fandoms. In fanfiction especially, an original character inserted into a canon, even something like Touhou where the definition of 'canon' is VERY nebulous, is not really welcome, as like I said, they generally get out of hand fairly quickly in the hands of an unskilled writer (or just someone with a lack of restraint).
