Maybe this is what happened if he failed to save someone on time, like "adachy" said. Or maybe this is what the mc did while ryotaro and nanako were in the hospital? I know I'd hate to be home alone with nothing but my thoughts of failure and whatnot while they're stuck in the hospital with decreasing health. Kinda made me upset to think that none of his friends even realized he was staying alone in that house and didn't visit him.

Well, Yosuke is certainly here now, according to this picture. Perhaps this particular visit (and the preceding thrashings of rage) happened... off-screen.
Lots of easter eggs in this. I see Serph and Heat on the magazine on the bottom of the dresser, Raidou Kuzunoha on the magazine under the sleeve of his school jacket, and Akihiko to the right of that.

I would like to believe this to be the intentional message of this picture, it makes it so much better (yet it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.)
However, as for the TV, as convincing it is as a theory, one could argue that the thrown-over TV is just what you'd expect from a wasted room. If the TV would stand there completely unharmed, it would stick out like hell, don't you think?
Maybe this is just supposed to be weirdly hilarious, either like "I don't even KNOW what this is" or maybe as in Protag being so reliable and competent and a good group-leader that you totally didn't see this messy room coming and it's hilarious.
But I stick to the "Couldn't save someone or is all alone"-theory. It's great.
This actually not THAT messy (Makes you think just what is my definition of messy) room, I can see myself cleaning it in 5mins or less, its mostly misplaced stuff
yeah I like the whole theory about him thrashing his room because he failed, but if that was really the case I'd think there'd be a lot more broken things. nothing is really broken, just scattered and messy. i think its just a messy teenager room
Well, the curtain is partially torn down... never noticed that before the sad theory was brought to my attention. Also, curling into fetal position under a blanket and clearly not ready to entertain guests...
