I don't think Meiling hit Reimu with a closed fist, more like a fingers clenched open palm strike which would cause more damage and leave the finger marks in Reimu's gut.

Trust me that was a fist
Is it bad that I am more aroused by Meiling now than I was before, guess its my thing for strong women
I think this scenario is quiet possible, becourse Meiling sure knows some tactical movement to avoid things like a master spark (reason of broken arm?) for the stomake it looks like a fire ball or some kind of burining fist hit...clearly something with fire... but I doubt, that any of these two will die...why you ask? don't ask me, ask Eirin...

Yeah, that's why she gets her ass handed to her by pretty much anyone, huh? For the stomach, you have obviously never seen a big bruise, have you? Fireball... my God, what are you, twelve?

add 10 years an your right well...my healthfactor is dealing with all my bruise, so I don't have the time to watch the big ones and till now I didn't had the chance to deal too much demage to other people (my time will come) ...so...a big bruise you say? I can't think of an attack that rips reimu's cloth appart and deal only a big bruise to her stomake...the wound dosn't seem too deep, but she dosn't bleed there...you see my point?
Cloud if that was the case, the clothes would look burned, but they look ripped. A punch wouldnt rip the clothes, maybe its just for showoff (after kicking her ass rip the clothes on the wounds). That is a bruise out of a punch, bleed you say? have you ever seen someone getting hit by a train? they dont bleed from anywhere but the orifices, the skin is quite resistant to impacts, the bones get crushed, vesels break, organs get damaged, but the skin doesnt get cut unless it hits them with something that can actually cut(or a bone itself cuts from the inside).
About having clothes ripped, but skin intact - have you seen any 'panty fighter' anime or manga? Clothes are a lot less durable than a nice girl wearing them. Touhou being rich with magic, i'd say Meiling's punches must be ki-infused, and nonliving matter gets destroyed easily, while living gets a chance to resist with the ki and life in it.
"Meiling"...What have you DONE TO MY "REIMU"!!! I...Will...AVENGE THEM IF IT'S THE LAST THING I DO!!! (That is, if I can actually beat her...) B-But don't worry, I won't kill you,(since you're one my favorite "Touhou" characters) I'll just gonna beat you up. *activates "Mach Caliber" & "Blitz Caliber", and equipped "Duel Revolver Knuckles"*

Good luck, pal. I hope you don't end up like Marisa.
I know Meiling is the Scarlet Devil Mansion's outer guard, but dang Meiling! You don't have to kill them, you couldn't just beat them up you know...(Thinking for a few hours) Wait!...............I can't believe I'm saying this but, this might be a good chance for Sanae to be the Main Character!!! *Sparkling eyes*

The reason for the spellcard duel system is because Reimu and Marisa are huge-ass pussies that can't fight toe-to-toe, so they have to make their opponents take on handicaps to fight effectively.
Anyone who says otherwise is a physically unfit person in real life who has to imagine martial artists as the weakest fighters in any setting just to get a slight feeling of superiority.

More like the matter of Reimu dying will most likely mean the end of Gensokyo (and perhaps everything in it, the SDM included)

To be speicifc...it's Reimu's job to maintain the border of Gensokyo. Were she to die, then all hell would break loose because there would be nothing to keep the barrier from collpasing. The spell card system offers a way for youkai to engage Reimu in duels without endangering the very existence of Gensokyo. And Marisa had nothing to do with the invention of the spellcard system either. Know thy cannon, Pallanza.

Without Reimu, there would be noone to keep the border separating Gensokyo from the "real" world from collapsing. Now, consider the effect that would have on Gensokyo's society...

It would really put a dent in that plan if this was Sanae masquerading as Reimu with Suwako in tow
Meiling -Good end- and Sakuya rejoiced! (has a good chance of appearing in a touhou game again, because two of the main human obstacles have been Hong Smashed. That is if Gensokyo still exists?)
This makes me happy because it is a correct portrayal of Meiling. Fanon just turned her into the useless gate guard cause she sleeps often. But, canon wise she wakes up as soon as you try to sneak past.
Magus said: Why (aside from laziness) would Yukari be unable to do that herself?
TinyCleverCommander said: She isn't a Hakurei miko.
This. Yukari didn't create the great barrier. She didn't even create Gensokyo. A lot of people get that wrong. Gensokyo was created (and sealed off from the outside world) by a bunch of youkai hunter who had managed to gather most of the youkai in Japan into that sealed space and the Hakurei clan was the one behind the barrier that made seperation possible, so only the Hakurei clan can keep the barrier up.
Yukari can destroy the barrier and go back and forth across it at will, but that's it. She's just a powerful youkai that helps maintain Gensokyo for whatever reason (probably because she's smart enough to understand that youkai can no longer survive in the outside world except for maybe the really haxxed ones).
And, yeah, in canon, Meiling is a beast at HtH and routinely smashes invaders, its just that she's not so good at danmaku (and Marisa is an expert at sneaking in; remember, Meiling only guards the gate).
Meiling is a wonderful fighter but her Damaku could use some work hence why Marisa gets in an actualy fight this is almost certainly the result unless like an Oni deciedes to come over...then things get badass.
You guys certainly underestimate Hong. Not much is really said on how well Meiling does her job in canon, except for what Perfect Memento tells us (about her attacking people who try to break in and the like). All we know is that Marisa finds her way in somehow (maybe by flying over her or sneaking in through a back entrance). From what I've heard, Reimu is allowed in without any retaliation.
TinyCleverCommander said: She isn't a Hakurei miko.
Yeah, but isn't it established that her "manipulation of all boundaries" power includes the boundaries of abstract concepts? Which means Yukari can basically use the ability to do anything she feels like.
Magus said: Yeah, but isn't it established that her "manipulation of all boundaries" power includes the boundaries of abstract concepts? Which means Yukari can basically use the ability to do anything she feels like.
But she is lazy and she sleeps most of the time. It's not her job to maintain balance in Gensokyo either although she does it anyway. In Strange and Bright Nature Deity, she actually repairs the barrier after it (actually a tree that's part of it) gets damaged by a lightning bolt.
But Reimu's job isn't centered on only keeping the barrier up. It's just that it's the most important thing that affects everybody. She's also in charge of keeping peace and order and frankly, that's not something Yukari would trouble herself with unless Gensokyo itself is at stake.
Still, the Hakurei mikos that came before her dealt with all that without spell card rules in place. Which means that youkai who understood full well how bad the Hakurei miko dying would be would have to hold back to not kill if they didn't want all hell to break lose. In that light, Reimu has it harder now since everybody can go all out against her. In danmaku of course.
Well Perfect Memento has stated that Meiling technically has no weakness, and that the only way to beat her is to challenge her to a timed battle and then try to overpower her directly (which is exactly what happened in EoSD). It also mentions that because she so skilled in martial arts, she is a good opponent for testing your skills. It also mentions how it's not really possible to sneak by her while she's sleeping. She will wake up immediately and attack without mercy. (This is likely because of her power to control Qi, which allows her to sense the life force of people and youkai nearby, which essentially means she has good perception too.) It also states that Meiling only sleeps at high noon (siesta). And as a showcase of her strength, she destroyed a wall of the SDM with an inch punch, so you know Meiling has to be very strong. Since she's a youkai, she is naturally a lot stronger than a human, but she's combining her youkai strength with chi, making it EVEN stronger. The strength she gets might even be comparable to an Oni. Remi is stated to have strength like an Oni, so it really wouldn't be too far off. One important thing to remember is that Touhou is quite vague. So it's okay to make your own assumptions of characters (which is why ZUN said you can create your own Gensokyo). The assumptions are more likely to be accepted if they're based on canon, obviously.
Unseen Awesomeness. You're forgetting the most important part of the this pool's criteria.
Little girls getting beat to death isn't awesome.
instead of thinking about the fight, why not imagine how things led to a fight? did reimu and marisa try to invade the mansion, did they provoke meiling, did they challenge her to a fist fight? as far as that goes, i'd love to see HOW the fight got started to have it lead to this point.
The criteria is the aftermath of any scene that could tell a story.
No, that's only half of it. It has to be unseen AND "awesome." That's the name of the pool and it's description.
Pool description said: This pool is for those moments where it feels like something is happening or happened off screen or is mentioned and you wish you could have seen it.
For instance, a character talks about fighting another character, and its obvious from the character's wounds that it was an epic fight. It leaves you wishing you could have seen that.
Or though nothing was mentioned, the context or situations implies something awesome happened when the audience wasn't looking.
Really, if the image makes you think "I want to see that, dammit!", then most likely it should be here.
The vast majority of society views little girls being beat to death as a very negative, very not-awesome thing. It doesn't belong in this pool.

These girls in question are magical living in a world full of monsters. These monsters live off of humans whether as a physical or spiritual way all generally life threatening to humans. It does not matter about what society veiws it is what the world that the characters live in that matter. Also before you bring society in a discussion know that each society is different and don't force your veiws on the rest of the world.
You're just spinning things however you want to turn this pool into your own personal favorites pool.
Objectively: This is a picture of little girls being beaten to death.
In context: Touhou is a light hearted series about magical girls that at worst play pranks on each other. There's no death, gore or any of this clockwork orange style ultra-violence in it's source material. This picture is so out of character it's insulting.
there have been 3 different people who have added this picture to the pool. you are the only one who has removed it each time. based on this alone, it seems like you are in the minority on not wanting it in. as the creator of the pool, i feel this picture fits with the overall theme of the pool and should belong but I respect your opinion. IF you feel strongly about it, perhaps this should be moved to the forums so this topic can be discussed outside of this 1 lone picture?
Are you sure it fits the pool? The main difference between it and all the others is it's getting taken too far. This isn't a bunch of people knocked out with cartoony bandages on their heads. It's a brutal and grisly scene of murder. It even has the guro and death tags.
It's the ONLY post in the pool with the guro and death tags. Are you really sure you're willing to call this "awesome"?
you are too sheltered for your own good...you need to grow up...seriously...there's no such thing as the sunshine and rainbows you fantasize about...just harsh reality...and you need to accept that for your own sake.
