Considering how scuffed Fromsoft translations usually are (seriously, what amateurs have they been hiring all this time?), it would not surprise me if someone was actually stupid enough to do that.
It could also just be an intentional play on words, but...

Patches calls them "iron virgin" at one point. The translations get really confusing at times.
