So games workshop changed the spelling from tau to t'au (they are probably worried the greek alphabet will sue them or some shit idk), is there an easy way to replace all tags, or should someone just go replacing them manually?
No need to "totally" follow what Games Workshop is doing. I remember they changed Imperial Guard's name (or another faction) to something something. As fanbase ignore it anyway.

It's been T'au for years (It's always been the name of their homeworld) and Imperials will often just use it without the apostrophe.

Astra Militarum is basically the formal name, and plenty in-setting still call it the Imperial Guard. It's literally the same idea as Adeptus Astartes/Space Marines or Aeldari/Eldar and the same idea exists in many real life orgnaizations, it's not hard to grasp at all.

It's true, though I'd still argue for creating different tags for tau and tau empire, in case anyone ever draws some kroots or gue'vesa. My main question is wether GW has shifted into spelling the faction's name as t'au inside the whole tau codex, for example. That's be more of an official name change, rather than a copyright thing in the case of adeptus astartes/space marines, astra militarum/imperial guard, etc. In that case an aliasing tau -> t'au would be more accurate.
There are also unaligned Kroot, at least from the first codex (which is the only one I have), that basically work as mercenaries for various species and factions.
